Detecting topological similarity and dissimilarity in multi-field data.

Abstract

Here we address the problem to detect when two multi-fields are similar or dissimilar topologically. We propose a similarity measure between two multi-fields in terms of symmetric difference between their Reeb Spaces. For computation of Reeb Spaces, we use Joint Contour Net (JCN) which is a quantized approximation of the Reeb Space.
