Use of spatial audio in immersive analytics.

Abstract

In this project, we analyze the use the spatial audio in VR based immersive analytics for large multi-dimensional abstract datasets by creating a complex, dynamic environment for data exploration. Immersive analytics is an emerging research field because of benefits virtual environments are providing, i.e., a large field of view and more natural interaction with the data. However, for large multi-dimensional datasets, it is difficult to analyze the data even inside of an immersive environment because of the complexity of the data and volume of visual information being presented at the same time. We believe that spatial audio can improve the analysis of multi-dimensional datasets within immersive environments and help the user extract the patterns and information from the dataset which would otherwise not be possible.
